I always did like a good mystery.

Here is one for all of us to solve.

I first saw this box on the decoys in the box a few months ago on eBay and was offered complete. Just recently the box and decoys were offered individually. I did not think that this box and decoys should be broken up - so I bought all 7 decoys plus the box. I received with the purchase a signed appraisal that the box was from Circa 1970 (See Photo). The seller was from Depew,N.Y. and the eBay ID is DEEK89.

The box measures 13" Long and 7.75" wide and 3.25" high and overall height with eh handle is 5". The carved are about 7" long and 1/4" thick. They appear to be hard wood . The green fish on the sides have a round brass screw head for eyes.

The 3 green fish measure 6" long. One fish has Red Tack Eyes and the others all have glass eyes that do have a color which is consistent with age. No fins are on any of them and they all have a single eyehook for a tieline. They are all weighted in the belly.

The Green Fish measures about 6" long.

The Yellow Fish measures about 7" long.

The White Fish measures about 7" long.

All fish belongs to this set as they fit properly in the box and are made by the same person. The Red Tack Eye decoy is not missing glass eyes, but had the tack eye originally. I do not know why the carver would do only one with tack eye and the rest with very nice glass eyes.

The glass eyes appear to be similar to other glass eyes that I had bought on eBay before and they were like antique Heddon eyes and I compared those eyes with these eyes and the coloring is very similar for the age.
