Terry James was born and hails from Grand Rapids Minnesota and was born in 1946. He told us that he had been carving off and on for about 10 years since 1995. He still carves today and you will see some examples of his decoys below. He carves from patterns and he transfers them to wood and the rest is imagination. he uses materials from brass, copper, wood, sheet metal and the wood is normally cedar, butternut, diamond willow, white pine, some red oak and of course basswood.
He signs his work with his initials T.W.J, Date on the bottom before the tail.
He loves carving because it relaxes him and it is jut down right 'fun'.
