Indian Bill (Deceased)

Carver

Indian Bill is a native American from Backus, Minnsesota. He lived near the Leech Lake Indian Reservation near Walker Minnesota, He lived in a two room house that was only 20' x 20' and did all his carving from his kitchen table. half of the table was in the living room because the place was so small and not because the table was so big. Indian Bill was a fishing guide for many years and only carved fish decoys one or two years. He carves a lot of different things including turkey & duck decoys and open water lure and fish decoys. Indian Bill was a legend in the Central Minnesota area for his work.

The decoy shown is Indian Bill's very first decoy and is marked with #1 on the bottom.
