Born 1942 - Mel Aaserude is a contemporary carver born in Grand Forks, North Dakota and now lives in Cass Lake Minnesota. 

He is listed in Kimball's "Fish Decoys" book Volume 1, 2, & 3. Some of his items are in the Smithsonian Institute National Museum of American History.
